North Carolina’s corporate income tax rate was reduced to 3% in 2017, making it one of the lowest rates in the nation. The current state budget reduces this rate to 2.5% in 2019. Additionally, as of 2018, the state has a fully phased-in single sales-factor apportionment for corporate income tax.

Incentives
The Biopharma Crescent counties currently participate in aggressive, performance-based incentive grants for new and expanding companies. The counties do not have a prescribed incentive program, enabling them to craft incentive grants specific to each opportunity.
The State of North Carolina offers several programs to support new and expanding businesses. These range from customizable workforce training programs to the state's flagship Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG).
